  • The property was wonderful and very well appointed.

    Rating:

We had a great time. The house was nice and located about 20 minutes from the main attractions in the park. Everything was clean, easily accessible and well organized.

David, the property manager could not have been nicer. He was incredibly helpful and made us feel very welcome! Many great small touches, like snacks to take on hikes, etc..

    Hello Phyllis,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your kind review of our lodge.

We use vacation rentals at times on our own adventures and one thing I have found is that the better organized a home is the faster we feel “at home”. The sooner we are settled in the sooner we can focus on exploring and enjoying where we are. So to that end one of our top goals is to offer a home away from home, and that includes providing all the things that most folks have at home.

I love being accessible to our guests and available to answer questions, give suggestions and educate where I can. Yosemite National Park is an amazing place and a national treasure. It is also a wilderness and I believe the more I can share with our guests personally and through our website the safer and more rewarding their stays are in the park.

Of course I also value our guests privacy, and keep a discrete presence unless needed. Thanks again and I am happy you had a great stay.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Outstanding rental

Accommodations are beautiful and immaculately kept. Wonderful spacious kitchen, comfortable living room with lovely sunset views and spacious bedrooms with cozy fireplaces.

The location is quiet and peaceful with about equidistant access to the valley floor, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove.

We would not hesitate to rent again, although we will stay longer next time so we have more time to enjoy this awesome location!

  • Perfect Place to Stay!!!

What a fabulous property to stay at in Yosemite NP. Super close to Glacier Point and not too far away from the valley floor.

The lodge was perfect for our family - we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, reading the books and watching the videos on Yosemite, and sitting on the patio in the evening watching the sunset. David is a fabulous manager and was very helpful.

One of the BEST VRBO stays we've had!

  • Beautiful Cabin in Yosemite

    Rating:

Beautiful and very well maintained cabin just minutes from Yosemite Valley. David was extremely helpful getting us situated and giving us excellent recommendations regarding dining, hikes, etc. Would love to stay again!

    Hello Dennis,

Thank you for your review of our lodge.

We enjoyed having you stay with us. I am happy you appreciated my recommendations. I like very much to speak with our guests and to answer questions regarding the lodge and the park.

I think offering local insight to the park and it’s attractions is a very important roll. Not all of our guests require or desire my input, and that is just fine. My goal is to give each of our guests the privacy they want. Thank you again for staying with us during your time in Yosemite.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Centrally Located & A Classy Place

    Rating:

The owner, David, communicated early about the particulars of our stay so there were no unanswered questions. He also met us at check in and explained all the features of the home. The house has enough room for everyone to spread out. The kitchen is exceedingly well stocked including all the spices and oils for a grand meal. The central location is a quick twenty minutes to the valley floor, the Tolumne sequoia grove/gas station and Glacier Point for daytime sight seeing and night time dining at the Ahwanee Hotel or Mountain room. Dining at the Wawona Lodge is but fifteen minutes away in the opposite direction. The unit is very clean, towels are fluffy and no shortage of supplies. The in floor radiant heat takes a while to heat up but once going provides comfortable heating. Internet is decent and the TV channel selection sufficient. All in all a really nice place to stay and considering all the room and amenities a much better bang for the buck than staying at one of the park hotels.

    Hello Richard,

Thank you for your review and sharing your experiences in the park. I like that one can appreciate adventure and fine dining here in Yosemite National Park.

We have a saying on the trail, its not the destination, and it's not the journey to the destination, its what you eat at the destination that matters :-) Speaking of which, I am happy you enjoyed our kitchen.

I like to think that a home is much nicer then a hotel room and I am glad you agree. It lets the family do what families do at home while adventuring.

As a side note, thank you Richard for your feed back on our lodge, and recommendations via your emails and texting post stay. I like to have our guests share ideas, and thoughts on what works and what can make things work a little better.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Incredible cabin with amazing access to the best of Yosemite

    Rating:

My group arrived later Friday evening than anticipated, and David (the gracious host) greeted us warmly and provided a tour of the expansive facilities. Super close to Tunnel View and Glacier Point road access, this spot is both incredibly convenient for seeing some great sights, and also for coming back for R&R after a long day of hiking and exploring. David was a fantastic host, allowing us privacy and also being available for any issues that might arise during our stay (though there were none!). He even has a high-altitude cook book for any foodies! If you want to see Yosemite and have a warm, cozy, fun place to stay, this is it!

    Hello Sam,

Thank you so much for your review. Your appreciation of my service during your stay is encouraging and your mention tells me that our effort here pays off in making the guest experience the best we can.

We do not have a 24/7 office to check in as one may find at the lodges in the valley. But I understand that our guests have schedules that will sometimes require a late check in. In those cases I do my best to be available when needed. For the benefit of those who have not stayed with us let me just say I understand that travel is a tiring process. Many of our guests arrive to the lodge after at least 4 or more hours in the car, and often after a plane trip.

So while I like to get our travelers settled in with a good tour of this large home I will often speed up the tour for the benefit of our late and weary arriving guests. I trust that if I miss anything or there are questions our guest will just ask me about it during their stay.

I am available here at the lodge at the office, via phone, and our guests favorite, texting. Love the modern technologies. Thanks again Sam.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Beautiful Home close to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point

    Rating:

We had six people staying at the house over Columbus Day weekend in October. The living room, dining room, and kitchen area was very comfortable for the six of us. The kitchen is well equipped making meal preparation easy. The bedrooms were all fine. We enjoyed playing pool one night, and sitting in the living room catching up on other nights. The location is excellent, close to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point. We didn't have time to sit outside, but wish we could have. I would recommend this house for your visit.

    Hello Vickie,

Hello Connie, Thank you for your review. October is one of the best months to visit the park. The crowds start to thin and the air is clear of the summer wildfire smoke that can come up as well as the pollens and dust of summer. I like how you managed to fit so much into your stay and the trade off of spending the time on the deck was a wise one given the time you had here. We would love to have you back, thank you!

    Cheers,

    David

  • Very Clean and comfortable

    Rating:

My husband and I vacation in the Fall with another couple who are long time friends. We stayed three nights at this property while visiting Yosemite. It was a convenient base to start each day. Dave was very helpful with information. We were using a Yosemite guidebook and would have wasted time without Dave's help. Our only disappointment was not seeing any wildlife.

    Hello Vickie,

Thank you for your review. When my wife and I travel we research as much as we can about where we are going. I have found guidebooks are a great resource as is much of what can be found on the web. However nothing beats being able to speak with locals and gain inside information you may not find in the books or that may be outdated.

Thinking back on the trips we have had in the states and abroad having access to a local who is willing to take time and share the insights, details and issues of an area is invaluable and makes all the difference in the world. So as much as I can, I am available for our guests and share such information.

We are in a very unique place and environment, a community of homes in the middle of the wilderness. It presents some unique challenges, and a bit of local knowledge to be able to enjoy the park in a way that is safe for both our guests as well as the flora and fauna of the area. That is why we send information to our guests in the form of PDF doc after the booking, and keep them updated until their arrival on local issues and events that may affect their stay in the park.

We have also created a personal website with lots of valuable information regarding the park and the lodge with new, events, photos and much more. Sorry I cannot post the link as VRBO would strip it out. Just look for us online, Yosemite Peregrine Lodge. Thanks again, and do come back. I promise we have wild life here.

    Cheers,

    David

  • A Home Away From Home

    Rating:

Stayed at this beautiful home tucked between Wawona and the Village, so very convenient to whichever direction you were headed. The house is great, we were three couples, and had plenty of room. The kitchen was full of everything you would need to make meals and the outside deck has a wonderful table that seats 8, which was lovely. The bedrooms were large and beds comfortable. The only draw back we found were the bathroom sinks were located out of the bathroom right next to the beds. But, there was plenty of hot water and internet was provided, so it was overall a very nice stay. The owner is very attentive to your booking inquiries and onsite to show the property upon arrival. A very comfortable home and wonderful location.

    Hello William,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. I am happy you enjoyed your stay at our lodge.

The Peregrine was built as a bed and breakfast which is great as far as being able to offer bedrooms with their own private showers and toilets. I suppose the original owners wanted to make as much as the usable space as they could and so ended up designing the bedrooms with the vanity, sink and mirrors in the rooms, and not in the space with the shower and toilet.

You are correct in two of the three bedrooms the vanity/sink area are close to the beds. That is one of the unique quirks of design that we have in the Peregrine. As a side note, for the benefit of those reading this review and have not been to our lodge, regarding the bathrooms, please note that anyone sleeping upstairs would need to share a bathroom with one of the downstairs bedrooms.

We love the Peregrine even with some of it’s idiosyncrasies, and I think most of our guests don’t find the quirks an obstacle for enjoying the lodge. Thanks again for your review I find it is a good thing anytime one of the quirky features of the lodge is discussed so that our future guests understand what we offer and what to expect. Cheers!

    Cheers,

    David

We had a wonderful time staying at Peregrine Lodge, David welcomed us and showed us around the house and was always contactable if there were an issues (there weren't). The property is in the best location for Yosemite, and is a great place to come back to and relax after a day hiking in the park. Thank you David, we loved it.

All that one could ask for - great location for easy access to park attractions, comfortable & well appointed lodge, an onsite manager to deal with any unexpected s. Internet data limitations is the only minor constraint. David is very supportive.

  • Great location and lovely property

All 5 of us had a great time at the lodge, we used the BBQ and ate on the terrace. I'd recommend taking to road upto Glacier point (2 mins from the lodge) and choosing the panaramic walk (we spotted a bear walking across the road - best to keep the speed down). David was very helpful indeed and left us alone with his mobile number.

Peregrine House is wonderful. Everything was comfortable and spacious. The sunsets from the deck are stunning. The location is great - easy access to Wawona (25 mins South) or up to Tuolomne (and you can avoid most Valley traffic). Perfect for accessin Glacier Point, where there are a ton of great hikes and views. David is a very helpful and gracious host. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Peregrine Lodge for three days this July 4th, a family of five with three little boys, and we couldn't be happier. The house is very comfortable, in good order, everything works. Charming and well-decorated. Plenty of activities for kids for a rainy day. Beautiful location, conveniently close to everything, yet quiet and secluded. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in the park. Andrey Morganville, NJ

    Hello Andrey,

I am very happy you had a great 4 of July stay. I believe it is worth missing a fireworks display with a few thousand of our closest friends to be in the grander of Yosemite National Park, and I am happy your agree.

Speaking of rainy days, I love it when our visiting families get together and play board games, work on puzzles together, or play pool. The family time together is precious, and not easily achieved during our day to day schedules.

Our guests have voiced over and over, (especially the parents) that they really enjoy the opportunity to slow down, put away the electronic devices, and spend time together with family. Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

    Cheers,

  • Best Place to stay in Yosemite

    Rating:

Beautiful accommodations, great reception, well thought out quest experience, absolutely amazing time. Beats staying at the Awhanee.

    Hello Donald,

Thank you so much for your review. Being compared to the Ahwahnee hotel, really put a smile on our faces. For those of you who cannot find the Ahwahnee in the Yosemite National Park directory it is because it is now called the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, thanks to some underhanded dealings of the last park concessionaire. Locals and long time repeat visitors to the park still call it the Ahwahnee and probably always will.

As we are a niche market, that is offering a home inside a National Park it is important for us to do what we can to differentiate our selves from the normal hotel experience. I believe that no matter what level of hotel you stay in, from motel to a 5 star resort, no hotel room can compare to having an entire home that is yours to stay. Also, having the personal interaction with an owner over an employee of a large corporation I believe makes a tremendous difference in the guests experience.

Donald thank you so much for your comments. We love to travel as well, and when we have an exceptional experience on vacation it motivates us to find a way to take what made it special to us, and to blend it into the lodge experience here if at all possible. Hearing remarks like yours makes all the hard work worth it. Thank you for being great guests, and taking the time to post a review!

    Cheers,

    David

  • Great home

    Rating:

Home was outstanding. David the owner was very helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. Went above and beyond in order to make sure we were taken care of. Would recommed the home to anyone, you won't be disappointed. One improvement would be to have basic cable channels in the bedrooms, only able to play DVD's. However there is a TV in the great room with basic cable.

    Hello John,

Thank you so much for taking your valuable time to post a review. I am happy you had a great time here. I always appreciate helpful suggestions and ideas from our guests. We actually started out with TV reception in all bedrooms, but over time found that the TV use in the bedrooms did not justify the high cost of adding them to our plan. As you pointed out we do have DVDs players in all bedrooms for personal entertainment. Even so, I am attentive to our guests desires, and if I have more comments regarding the TV, I will revisit our decision. Thank you again for your wonderful review and for being great guests.

    Cheers,

    David

  • A wonderful place for a family vacation/reunion.

    Rating:

We brought together all of our children and grandchildren in this magical place within Yosemite. This wonderful luxurious mountain house complimented one of the most beautiful places in the world and greatest national parks. We were able to enjoy our own private space, cook gourmet meals in an extraordinary kitchen, build a roaring fire in the fireplace, play games and also explore some of the many wonders of the Yosemite Valley. It was a fabulous retreat and balanced our days exploring the park and dealing with the traffic and crowds in the park.

  • Absolutely Perfect!

    Rating:

Our stay at Peregrine Lodge could not have been better. David is fantastic and is an extremely helpful and gracious host.

The lodge is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. The kitchen was great for cooking family meals to eat around the beautiful dining room table. The two dishwashers made clean up a breeze. David provided a crib, play-n-pak, and high chair for our six month old granddaughter, which was a huge help.

The location inside the park can't be beat. We enjoyed the tranquil location and amazing sunsets from the deck. Our family of eight arrived from five different states, and we would definitely do it again. Thank you, David, for a wonderful stay! .

  • Beautiful Lodge and Beautiful Surroundings!

    Rating:

This is a beautiful, well-maintained, comfortable home. Lots of room to enjoy, fireplaces galore, a great kitchen, a game room with a pool table. The house is stocked with a lot of basics; books, TV's, DVD players, games and information on the surrounding areas. It's clean and the location is perfect. We were there during a snow storm and the views were amazing. David, the owner, was so accommodating and always helpful. The visit was amazing—there are a lot of beautiful places to go see and then return to relax and enjoy the home. Great place for families. We will definitely come back for another visit.

  • Great place and location

    Rating:

The house is as beautiful as the pictures and the location could not be beat. It was very clean and in great shape. The house is stocked with many of the basics( garbage bags, spices, oils and paper towels) which is a great plus. David, the owner, lives behind the house and was available for any issues. Our only disappointment was that we could not use any of the fireplaces which was due to fire restrictions in Yosemite West. Sometime in the future, we plan to return in the springtime and will definitely stay at this property.

    Hello Carol,

Thank you for your time in writing your kind review. I am happy you appreciate our basic kitchen stock. Many or our guests fly in to California to visit the park and other great California destinations. Because of this we are sensitive to the amount of preparation, and shopping a traveler has to do. The less our guests have to worry about the better.

I try and welcome each of our guests on check in, and my proximity definitely helps when there is an emergency or someone has a question about the lodge or park. When I cannot be here we always provide a local person who is available for emergencies and information. So many of the rental homes here are managed by absentee owners, and I think most of our travelers like having a local contact and help.

I am sorry about the fire restrictions as well, we are looking forward to having them lifted both for our guests sake, and for the peace of mind that the wild fire season is over :-) Thanks again for your review and for being great guests.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Great Lodge and Location!

    Rating:

We had the pleasure of staying at Peregrine lodge with our 3 young children, and the accommodations were great. I can't think of a better location to stay inside the park, there is so much that is close by. David was a great host and was there to attend our every need. The kitchen was great for cooking, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the 3rd floor playroom. We will be coming back sometime soon to enjoy this property again with our family.

    Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for your review. We are very fortunate to have a lodge so centrally located inside Yosemite National Park. It will be great to have you back. One of our highest goals is to create an environment that will encourage our guests to return. Your wonderful review has made my day.

  • Perfect Yosemite Lodging

    Rating:

The Peregrine Lodge is a beautiful home in a beautiful and tranquil setting. It was much better than we expected even though the listing made it look so attractive. It is in a convenient location to all of the highlights of Yosemite Park. The bedrooms are spacious and each one has a magnificent fireplace. The bathrooms are small but serve the purpose.

There is a stunning fireplace in the comfy rustic living area. There is a beautiful deck with a grill and fabulous table, chairs and umbrella for outside dining. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the cookware and amenities you could possibly need.

David was the perfect host. He was there to greet us and give us a tour of the home showing us all of the details. We forgot to get ketchup, mustard and mayo when we went to the store and he was kind enough to bring us some without hesitation when we asked if he had any to borrow.

Our security deposit and extra cleaning fee were immediately refunded. We were sorry we didn't have more time in this amazing home.

We highly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in the park. The only downside would be if there is someone with a handicap as there is no bathroom on the main floor. All of the bathrooms were downstairs which was fine for us because we could all use the exercise going up and down the carpeted stairs. If you are going to Yosemite, Peregrine Lodge is the place to stay!!

    Hello Wendy,

Wow I am just amazed at your review. Thank you so much for writing with such detail. You really pegged the lodge, especially the small bathrooms ;-) Yes they do serve the purpose, and allow room for more important areas. It helps that the vanity and sink is in the main bedroom and not in with the toilet and shower.

Speaking of bathrooms for the benefit of those of you deciding to book with us you should know there are no bathrooms on the upper levels. I am glad Wendy has pointed this out. The home was built as a bed and breakfast, and each bedroom has a toilet, and shower for privacy. It works very well for most of our guests but if you are sleeping upstairs you will need to go down and share a bathroom with one of the three lower bedrooms. When the drought is over and the county once again allows the purchase of EDUs for extra bathrooms we plan to add a half bath upstairs. But that could be a long time in coming. In the mean time please be aware of this. We have had a few guests disappointed in this arraignment and we want you to know before you book. I am sure you will find the rest of the lodge most accommodating.

I am happy to have been of help when you needed a few grocery items. I had them and was glad to offer. We are back country, and about 30 minutes drive on mountain roads to the closest store in the park. The best grocery stores are outside the park over an hour away. So it is not that easy to go out for a few things once you are here. On the occasion I go into Oakhurst and I will ask our guests if there is anything I can pick up for them as well. Because shopping is so far away we will often do that for our neighbors. Thank you Wendy for a wonderful, and descriptive review.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Rustic Charm

    Rating:

The house was clean, had a great outdoor deck and nice location. Our family needed an accommodation for 7 but it turned out that our youngest daughter had to bunk with her older sister and husband. The room they said she was to use had a very uncomfortable sleeper sofa and the closest bathroom was in the lower level. The furnishings, mattresses and bedding were outdated. Needs a washer/dryer and 1/2 bath upstairs. The property was rustic, but we still had an amazing time at Yosemite.

    Hello Debbie,

Thank you for your review. In regards to the sofa bed, we appreciate your feedback. In large part we depend on our guests to share with us any issues they may have during their stay. This kind of input helps us to continue to offer a quality, comfortable and well maintained lodge for our guests. Unfortunately sometimes things do not come to our attention as quickly as we would like. You are our first guest to have made comment on this.

In response, I have ordered a new 5 inch sofa bed mattress, 4 inches of sturdy memory foam and 1 inch of gel top padding. We have also purchased a pad to go over that. While this remedy does not bring our sofa bed up to the comfort of a spring mattress, it does vastly improve the comfort of the bed. And I am sure it is the best that can be done for a “sofa bed”. We have also pulled a king size sheet set that was worn and have replaced it with a new set. We keep extra sets of sheets, pillows and blankets just for this purpose.

In terms of outdated, that seems subjective. When we purchased the lodge in 2014 we replaced most of the furniture in the lodge along with dishes, pots, pans, glasses etc. The exceptions were the bedrooms. The bedroom furniture was custom built and is what some might call rustic but more theme or fantasy in my mind. I believe the photos on our website are accurate and speak for themselves.

We have taken care to check out the comfort of the other beds and have found them comfortable. When it comes to decor, amenities and policies, I can only stress the importance of the traveler reviewing the VRBO web page to understand what they are booking, what is or not available for a property.

We do not offer a washer and dryer, and the number of bathrooms is clearly communicated on our website at VRBO. We do not open our laundry up to guests so we can control water usage during a critical drought, as well as health and sanitation, i.e., the introduction of bed bugs, lice, etc. There is a coin op laundry one block away our guests may use. We would love to place another half bath on the upper level. But again the drought has made that impossible. We could not add one legally.

We are fortunate enough to have one toilet and shower for each bedroom. Thank you again Debbie for your input. I believe we have been able to take positive action to correct some of your concerns. Other concerns you have, unfortunately are out of our control to do anything about.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Nothing less than fantastic!

    Rating:

What a wonderful stay we had at Peregrine Lodge. The location was perfect (as close as you can get to Yosemite Valley while still getting away from the crowds), the house was outfitted with everything you could need, and David was a knowledgable and graceful host. We traveled with another family, making our total number 8 in all, and we had plenty of room for sleeping, meals, and just hanging around. The second floor deck was a great place to unwind after a busy day. Thank you for everything!

    Hello Shawna,

It is very encouraging to read reviews like yours. The tag line on our logo is, “Encouraging outdoor adventure and defining relaxation”. Our goal is to provide an upscale, comfortable, and peaceful setting for relaxing after a day adventuring. Being here for advice and guidance on finding the adventure is a benefit to managing the lodge and one I enjoy. There are other fine lodges here in the park, and we thank you for choosing to be our guests at the Peregrine during your stay in Yosemite. Your wonderful review makes me feel like we achieved our goal.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Spacious home nestled among the trees of Yosemite.

    Rating:

Perfect home for family vacation, within 30 minutes of Yosemite Valley, inside Yosemite National Park. It was a short and beautiful car ride to get to the trail heads. We all had our own rooms with bathrooms. Super comfy beds, comfy leather living room couches and living room window seats. The large well-appointed kitchen is open to the dining area, and easily handled our family of eight. Two dishwashers were a plus, as we fixed all meals at home. David had a crib, high chair, and pack and play in the house for our one-year-old granddaughter. Pool table was a fun bonus. The deck has a huge table with an equally huge umbrella, and was a great place to eat or hang out and listen to the birds. So pleasantly quiet and serene. Sunsets and stars were amazing. Totally dark at night, so bring a flashlight! We enjoyed this house so much our family has set this as our family vacation model-a large house, explore nature, eat meals together at home. David, the manager, is helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Without hesitation, this house is excellent for a group to enjoy Yosemite.

    Hello Alison,

Thank you so much for your in-depth review. After reading it I feel like I was a guest here! I am happy you enjoyed yourselves, and have developed a new vacation model. I have only used VRBO’s in Europe but I find the same thing. Vacations with the family in one big lodge or villa is the best of all worlds. Our goal is to provide a home away from home for our guests, family or friends. It makes us happy to read reviews like yours.

    Cheers,

    David

    Hello Peter,

I am happy you appreciated our fire places. For those of you who have not visited our lodge we have four of them. One in the living room and one in each of the bedrooms. They were commissioned by the original owners and were built by a local stone artisan. The fireplace in the main lounge is of Yosemite Falls and has a real impact as it is over 20 feet high.

When the lodge was operated as a B&B each room had it’s own theme. The dogwood room’s fireplace has dogwood trees, the the Aspen room has aspen trees in the fireplace and the lodgepole room has cliff dwellings. All pretty amazing when you consider they are made of local granite. We have a very unique lodge, and we are very happy when our guests enjoy the amazing architecture. Thank you for your review and recommendation!

    Hello Michelle,

Thank you for your review. It is a pleasure knowing you have such fond memories of your stay here. We are looking forward to our third year owning, and managing the Peregrine Lodge. The pleasure of having wonderful guests like you are one of the many rewards we gain in operating our lodge, thank you!

  • Great Time!

    Rating:

House was in great condition. A little disappointed with the views from the house, as we were just surrounded by a wooded area. Being inside the park gates was great, making our moving around quick and easy. Owner was extremely helpful with suggestions and directions on different hikes to do and where to go. The house also provided some informative DVDs on the park as well as booklets as reference for day hikes, which were very useful. The game room provided an area for the kids to be in their own world while the adults relaxed from the days activities. Lastly, the house did have a washer and dryer, but we were not allowed to use them, which was a bit upsetting to my wife. Overall we had a great experience and would rent house again.

    Hello Joaquin,

Thank you so much for your very informative review! I really enjoy reading our guest’s experiences in our lodge. The game room is a wonderful area for the kids to have fun alone or the whole family for a game of pool. Yes we do have a lot of trees around the lodge. Lodge pole pines, cedar, Aspen, and oak among others. The oak trees are unique to properties in Yosemite West as we are on top of a hill with lots of sun. For the benefit of those who have not been to our lodge because we are on top of Yosemite West we have wonderful sunset views in the summer, and you can see distant mountains in the distance “through” the trees. I am happy you found our location a bonus.

We are very fortunate to be inside the park and close to many of the major attractions. Our location inside the park is a blessing and a challenge. The challenge is simply operating in the back country. I do not normally go into such detail on a response but I feel I need to explain for the benefit of those coming to the park. After 4 years of drought it has become necessary for our county to claim disaster status. We are lucky to have 3 baths and 3 showers for our guests. Our lodge was built in a time long before most of the other homes were. No home today could legally have that many bathrooms. Because of an already high water consumption we have decided to discontinue or limit our most water intensive uses such as the laundry, and the bath tub in the master bedroom.

We do encourage our guests to use the coin op laundry at the Yosemite West Condominiums just one block away. The other lodge we manage next door has also has a washer and dryer for our guests use. We still offer this though we may need to rethink it if we experience another year of drought. Each property is unique in it’s water usage and ability to offer certain amenities. Joaquin, it really hurts for us to have to pull these amenities. I do not like it, especially when it adversely effects our guests. We truly want to do, and offer all we can to make our guest’s stay special. We are clear that we do not offer a laundry on our VRBO webpage. Even so I realize it is easy to miss stuff when you are scanning a web page. I understand your surprise, and disappointment after arriving. It is regrettable that your wife was not able have the convenance of our laundry.

Thanks again for your wonderful review of our lodge, and I am happy you had a great time in all other regards.

    Best wishes,

    David

We loved the property for our yosemite visit for our family of five. David was very attentive to our questions, helpful with directions and suggestions for hikes in the park. He was also very responsive to all of my questions prior to arrival and when making reservations. I felt it was a real plus to have David on site to show us around upon arrival and to help answer questions during out visit. The kitchen is the best outfitted of any VRBO we have ever experienced. The location was the best in the park. Secluded from crowds but 20 minutes from all of the beautiful hikes and scenery. If we return to yosemite, we will stay here again without question. An excellent value.

    Hello Cynthia,

Thank you for your kind review. One of our highest goals is to offer information, suggestions, and tips to our guests. Yosemite National Park is a very unique place. Our community inside the park has many blessings and challenges. Because we are surrounded by wilderness this may be a community many visitors have never experienced. We have bears, mountain lions, lynx, deer, ring-tailed cats, coyote and much more. It is not uncommon for bear to walk up onto our deck.

Making it safer for our guests, and local animals is very important to us. We are also coming into our 5th year of drought, and wildfire always a concern for our community. Because of this we feel the need to prepare our guests for a very unique environment. So many lodges here do not have local management, or owners, and many guests are not given information that can make or break their vacation here in the park. We want our guests to have the best experience possible in Yosemite National Park.

And thank you for the shout out for our kitchen. I love go cook and it makes us happy to provide a kitchen that is fully equipped. We even have high altitude cook books ;-)

    Best wishes,

  • Heart of Yosemite

Our first Yosemite visit made most enjoyable by Peregrine House and our host David. Location is perfect. Home is immaculate. Made to enjoy time together.

    Hello Timothy,

As much as we enjoy our guests who have been in Yosemite before, there is something special about hosting guests who are experiencing the park for the first time. There is something uniquely different about Yosemite then any other place we have been to. I’ve seen a lot of wonderful places in the states, and in Europe but nothing quite like the Sierra Nevada’s, what John Muir called the range of light.

We are celebrating the centennial year for the National Parks in 2016. What that means to us, is the celebration of the preservation of wilderness for the use and enjoyment the american people. And by extension open to all visitors from all over the world. We need the national parks for the renewal of our national spirit and the health of our environment.

Owning and operating a lodge inside the national park is a privilege and honor. We enjoy sharing the Peregrine Lodge with those who love and embrace wild places. You may have noticed the tag line of our lodge, Encouraging outdoor adventure, and defining relaxation. We take that to heart.

Great guests like you help us to continue to offer this experience to others in one of the most amazing places on earth. Thank you for your review Timothy, and happy trails!

    Cheers,

    David

  • Amazing House

    Rating:

Came up to Yosemite with a small group and had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent house. The only thing that we lacked was more time to enjoy all that it offered. David was a great host and I'm looking forward to coming back soon!

    Hello Darren,

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to post your review. One of the best remarks I can hear is that our guests want to come back and stay again. Since we have taken over the Peregrine in 2014 one of the highest goals we set was to offer an experience that would make our guests want to return. I consider repeat business a real mark of our success and a barometer that tells us if we are doing it right.

Darren, leaving Yosemite too soon is a common complaint we hear. We have been coming to Yosemite National Park for decades and there is still so much to do and see I completely understand. Thank you for being great guests and it would be wonderful to see you again.

    Cheers,

    David

  • White Christmas

    Rating:

I booked the Peregrine Lodge as a retirement gift for my Mother and the entire family. She had always wanted to have a white Christmas in Yosemite, so the stakes were high. It did not disappoint! We were blessed with snowfall upon our arrival and blue skies thereafter. The lodge was decorated beautifully with very large, and comfortable, rooms, fireplaces throughout, and a fun pool/play room for the kids. The location is great too! A short drive to the valley, Badger Pass, and other scenic places throughout the park. Being inside the park is the call!!! On our way out we passed by an hour-long line (at least) of cars entering the park, which did not look fun... especially with little ones. Such a good trip!!!

    Hello Jody,

We are very happy you were not disappointed. Glad you enjoyed the decorations, we really like making the lodge festive. As you know we called first to see if you wanted it. We want to be sensitive to the needs, and desires of our guests.

My wife and I have two very different cultural and religious backgrounds and we are only too happy to embrace cultural diversity in whatever way our guests are inclined.

Yes, the lines into the park can be very challenging around the holidays, especially with children in the car. We are very happy to have a lodge inside the park and close to all of the major attractions. A 20 minute drive time is just perfect for children of all ages ;-)

Thank you for being wonderful guest and for leaving the lodge in such a nice condition. We would love to have you back anytime.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Christmas in Yosemite

    Rating:

Our family has been getting together for Christmas visits to Yosemite for many years and this past Christmas we enjoyed a stay at the Peregrine Lodge. All the bedrooms were spacious and clean and we especially enjoyed the game room with the pool table and the incredibly well-equipped kitchen. The main room with the huge windows looking out to the snow was a big hit on Christmas morning when we opened our presents. Our family getaway was one for the history books--thoroughly enjoyable.

    Hello Pat,

I am very happy that we could provide the setting for your family christmas. The snow this year is just magical and it is alway a thrill for us when everything comes together for our guests. The El Niño this year is bringing us more snow then we have experienced since we took over the lodge. With four years of drought we are all encouraged and hopeful, and we continue to get a lot of snow.

Pat since you have left we have had more then 4 feet of snow. For those of you who have not been to Yosemite in winter with lots of snow it is simply an experience you will not want to miss. Badger Pass, our local ski resort inside Yosemite Park, just 20 minutes from our lodge received 12” on Tuesday, and another 18” today! Of course you could alway just cross country ski from the lodge.

    Happy Trails Pat,

    David

This was an absolute gem in the heart of Yosemite National Park! It is a beautiful home fully equipped to handle 2 - 8 people. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and plenty of room to relax and enjoy the peace and magic of Yosemite. The owners David and Vonnie are remarkable, welcoming you to their home when you arrive. They even have snacks waiting for you after your long drive! David is well versed in the park and is available to make your stay comfortable . He can tell you how to see the best of Yosemite. The house is perfectly located close to Glacier Point and 25 minutes to the heart of Yosemite Village. After spending a long day in the park, you can leave the crowds behind.

We had a remarkable time with our family and hope to return again to this wonderful piece of paradise! Well worth the money to break away from the hotel routine and the crowds!

    Hello June,

Thank you so much for your kind review! I am very happy you enjoyed your stay. I always enjoy meeting our guests on check in. I think it is valuable time and lets me get to know our guests, and also it gives our guests an opportunity to get to know me and ask any questions about the lodge or the park. Of course I am always available for questions while maintaining a discrete presence on our properties in order to offer our guests privacy when they want it.

More then that I think it is helpful to tour the lodge and point out our amenities as well as the unique characteristics of our custom home. It is our hope that this time will help our guests settle in allowing them to unwind after a long trip and enjoy the lodge that much more quickly. Thank you for your appreciation and compliments. It would be wonderful to have you back.

The Peregrine Lodge is a great place to be. The accommodations are so comfortable and the house is equipped with everything you could possibly need: comfortable, attractive furnishings, a well-appointed kitchen, gorgeous views, quiet neighborhood, and a getaway that is close to Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point Road, and Wawona. David is an excellent host, and a wealth of information about Yosemite, should you need it. The home is decorated so tastefully and is a welcome oasis after a day on the trails. David maintains a meticulously clean home and offers every amenity you could ask for. I recommend the Peregrine Lodge for your next trip to Yosemite.

    Hello Maura,

What a wonderful review! Thank you Maura for sharing your experience while staying at our lodge. One of our goals is to offer a refined and tasteful environment for people who appreciate an upscale setting. It has been challenging, fun and rewarding to furnish and detail such a wonderful and unique lodge as the Peregrine. We have also benefited from the many suggestions from our past guests who have helped us to provide everything one might need in a home away from home.

We have many guests who fly in to visit the National Park. Providing what our guests need lets them focus on the main reason they are here, to enjoy one of the most beautiful places on our planet.

I am also very happy you appreciate our efforts at keeping our lodge clean and well maintained. We are lucky to have good folks to help us maintain our high standards in a place so far from the nearest town. Thanks again Maura for being wonderful guests, and it would be a pleasure to see you again.

    Cheers,

It is a wonderful house, unbelievable setting, huge and perfect for the hikes at the Glacier Point road. David was very friendly and helpful. He offered us hiking sticks and headlights. The kitchen is well appointed and we prepared all of our meals there. We bought most of our groceries on our way to the park. Everything was very clean. We used the pool table every night and enjoyed the sunsets from the deck. Next time we will stay longer than three nights. The house is worse the money!

    Hello Bettina,

Thank you for writing your review. I would love for you to return. We have a number of guests who fly in to visit Yosemite National Park. I know from experience that you just can’t pack everything you would like to have. So we like to offer some things our guests cannot bring along which enhance the Yosemite experience. There are not many lodges in Yosemite that have them.

At first we were not sure that offering a hot tub was the best idea considering the challenging environment, daily upkeep and other risks, (bears love hot tubs when no one is around). But after speaking with so many guests who just had a wonderful time relaxing in it, we have been encouraged by their response and we are committed to continue to offer that amenity. So far, no issues with bears!

Reading reviews like yours really helps us to know what is important to our guests. We value your feedback and sharing with others who might be considering our lodge. Thank you again for your time and for being great guests.

    Cheers,

    David

This home was very clean and nice. It was in a great location for the park and all of the activities. We had a great time.

    Hello Kristy,

Thank you for writing your review of our lodge. I am very happy that you had a great time. Our tag line is “Encouraging outdoor adventure and defining relaxation”. You and your group definitely did both. You completed the challenging Half Dome hike, and were able to relax and unwind.

For those of you who have stayed in the valley and have experienced the crowds, and the haze and smog of hundreds of campfires, you will marvel at our clear night skies while listening to the sounds of the forest from our large decks! Returning to the lodge, you will also find it much cooler then the Valley, another benefit of being at 6000 feet.

You will love our starry nights and pine scented mornings at Yosemite Peregrine Lodge. We offers the ideal home base for your Yosemite experience. Views, mature pines and peace. Congratulations again on your accomplishment Kristy, and thank you for being our guest during your stay in the park.

  • Wonderful Home...Great Experience!

    Rating:

The minute we walked into the Peregrine Lodge, we immediately felt at home! The house easily accommodated our family, which besides us, included our adult children and two teenage Grandchildren. The bedrooms/beds and living spaces are all very comfortable, and the kitchen is well appointed. There are many games, books, and even a pool table...No need to bring anything other than your food and clothing.

We had a amazing time, hiking, biking, and seeing the iconic sites of Yosemite during the day, while enjoying the most beautiful sunsets from the deck in the evening. The spa was sparkling clean and always on, which was a nice amenity to have available after our days of sightseeing.

David was the perfect host...He made sure to give us our privacy, yet was always available when needed. One night we ran out of butane with dinner for eight on the grill...he was right there to help us out. He also gave us some great tips on hiking, the best times to go, etc...even leaving a basket of goodies which we took along on our day trips.

We had a wonderful family vacation! Staying in such a welcoming, comfortable home made our entire experience even more memorable. We all loved our time together at the Lodge and look forward to returning!

    Hello Paula and Bill,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! One of our most important goals is to offer a home which is well, a home. I am encouraged that you found our lodge comfortable for your family. In a place like Yosemite National Park there are quite a few accommodations in the valley and many of them are just very expensive small rooms. It just does not make sense to spend your vacation in an impersonal hotel room, when you can have an entire home for your family to enjoy.

We are very fortunate to have a home in one of the most amazing places on earth. Purchasing the Peregrine Lodge just over a year ago, painting, remodeling and choosing decor that is comfortable and refined has been a life long dream of ours. We offer a well stocked and upscale environment for those who enjoy and appreciate quality. Real art on the walls, murals, stylish furniture and a custom built home set the Peregrine Lodge apart from many other vacation homes in the area.

We are not the most inexpensive accommodation here, but we have found that you cannot offer quality, cleanliness and a refined environment on a budget, or by offering budget prices. We appreciate and are honored to have guest like you who support us, appreciate our efforts and what we provide. Your patronage allows us to continue to offer a home away from home. Thank you, and we hope to see you again in the future.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Absolutely Fabulous !

    Rating:

This was the 3rd time we have travelled from the UK and stayed in Yosemite and this was by far the most impressive accommodation we have stayed in. Everything about the Lodge was fabulous from the sunset views on the deck, to the pool table for the young people! We had everything we needed inside the Lodge and there was a thoughtful supply of snacks to meet us on our arrival.

David was extremely informative and helpful and was so full of up to date knowledge about the Park and the best places to visit. He was also readily on hand for any queries or advice throughout our stay.

We had a wonderful day on the river in rafts which we hired and also embarked on some wonderful walks and even saw a Coyote at the side of the road.

Our stay was over all too quickly, but we have some wonderful memories and I certainly couldn't recommend this place more highly to anyone considering a stay.

    Hello Barbara,

Thank you so much for your recommendation. I was not aware on how many times you have been in the states and we were very fortunate to have you find us. We have had very memorable holidays to Europe and have had the fortune and privilege to meet wonderful folks and innkeepers there.

We are only too happy to be part of your adventure here. I love to share information about the best places to go in the park, given the time available of course! For those of you who have not been our guests we have a book library with information about Yosemite National Park, guides and day hikes, as well as the Sierra Nevada mountains in General.

For rainy days or for your planning we have DVDs on the park which are helpful to see where you might want to visit or what you might unfortunately have to miss. Of course I am here to fill in the gaps and look at maps with you if you want. Thank you Barbara for being absolutely wonderful guests.

We appreciated the personal touches, including the property tour and tips from owner David. This place is immaculately maintained. Sunsets from the deck were awesome. We love Yosemite West, and will be returning soon!

    Hello Sean,

Thank you so much for posting your review. I am very happy that you appreciate our efforts to maintain a clean and well kept home. I will pass that on to our cleaning staff as they work very hard to that end. Being former military I learned early in life of the benefits that come with keeping up your infrastructure. I have high standards for both the condition and appearance of the lodge and our cleaning staff continue to rise to the challenge.

They constantly tell me I have some of the best lodges here in the park and they work in a lot of homes. I know they share a sense of pride with me because the result of their hard work is knowing that the Peregrine lodge and the Falcon’s Nest lodge are some of the nicest properties here in Yosemite West.

It is very rewarding when I get to pass on comments and high ratings like yours to them. I couldn’t do it without their support. You were great guests and it would be a pleasure to have you back to enjoy our sunsets anytime.

    Cheers,

  • Great Location + Great Deck

    Rating:

Peregrine Lodge is a really nice house, and an especially great location for Yosemite day trips. Quiet neighborhood. We especially enjoyed the big outdoor table on the deck that surrounds the 2nd floor great room, dining room and kitchen (nice shady breezes there, lots of bird watching opportunities--saw yellow dumped warbler, northern flicker, western tanager, black headed grosbeak, dark eyed junco---all from the deck). Really great sunset views of the distant mountains from the deck. Great room was very comfortable, lots of hiking/info books on the bookshelf that were very useful. Beds were really nice. Small bathrooms, but adequate, and the whole house was clean and orderly, great kitchen well stocked. David was super helpful and we appreciated the trail mix, etc. that greeted us! We highly recommend this house.

    Hello Barbara,

Thank you for taking your valuable time writing a review of the Peregrine Lodge. I am very happy you were able to enjoy our deck. We are very fortunate to be inside the National Park where so much wild life is all around us. I noted you had logged quite a few birds while lounging at the table. The deck furniture is new this year and we think it is a great addition to the lodge.

We have seen bob cats, deer, coyotes, ring tailed cats, bears, and of course lots of birds both local and migratory from our decks. As most of the homes here in Yosemite West are built on very steep terrain it is a pleasure to have the large redwood decks to enjoy being outdoors.

Our main level deck and guest room level deck allow our guests to comfortably sit and enjoy the alpine surroundings during the day and the stars at night. It is true that our bathrooms are nothing to write home about. The Peregrine lodge was originally designed and built as a bed and breakfast and operated by Don and Kay Pitts for many years. Each bedroom has its own private shower and toilet and that space is rather small, but they are nicely tiled and just right for their purpose

Most of floor space is dedicated to the main bedroom itself. For the benefit of those who have not been here, the sink, vanity and mirrors are located in the bedrooms and offer a larger area for your hygiene in the morning and evening, cleaning yourself up after a day on the trail, or making yourself beautiful for that wedding you are attending in that great cathedral that is Yosemite National Park. Thank you Barbara it was wonderful having you as our guest.

    Cheers,

    David

    Hello Susan,

Thank you for taking your valuable time to write a review of your experience at the Peregrine. Vacations are a time when we get away from the everyday responsibilities to unwind, relax, recharge the batteries and for a little while have an opportunity to live in the moment. In short, feed the soul.

Our goal is to provide an upscale, clean and refined environment for our guests to find their happy place. That does not come without expense and a lot of hard work.

We are fortunate to have great support people to help, and hopefully we make it look easy. Reading reviews like yours make all of our efforts worth it.

Thank you for the encouragement and for sharing your time here with others who are making a decision where to spend their hard earned vacations.

    Rating:

This vacation exceeded our expectations!!! Yosemite National Park is truly a natural beauty. The lodge was situated in a central location that was an easy drive to all of the hiking trails and attractions. Staying inside the park was a plus! The lodge is beautiful, very clean and well equipped. The owner is very knowledgeable and gave us great advice on our hikes.

    Dear Kelly,

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I love your title, “Making Memories”, because that is one of the highest goals we have for our guests.

Over the years we have stayed in some pretty spectacular places and had wonderful accommodations. The things that made the memories last were not so much the destinations but the people we met along the way.

I doubt that any of the staff or owners where we stayed knew what an impression it made when they went our of their way to make our stay special. They were just very nice people being themselves and going the extra mile, and years later that is what I remember.

Of course it helps when our guests are wonderful people, and you made it easy. Thank you and hope to see you again.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Great Home and Location!

    Rating:

Home was exceptional - great location, structure, furnishings, housewares, and, last but not least, DAVID's organization. We had total of 6 rather picky individuals staying here. All had no complaints. ALL had ABSOLUTE PRAISE for property.

    Hello Kent,

Thank you so much for your kind words. It is always a great feeling when we get good reviews from picky people! But really I would not have known!, you and your group were just fantastic guests. I am also very happy that you appreciate our organization.

My wife and I have traveled extensively, both in the States and abroad, and we have taken notes on what makes a great vacation stay and what does not. When we started the Peregrine lodge just over a year ago it was important for us to incorporate our positive experiences into our home.

We think being in a home you have never been in can be a challenge, especially one the size of the Peregrine lodge, over 3200 sq. feet. The sooner our guests can make themselves comfortable and familiar with the home the sooner they can start enjoying their stay here in Yosemite National Park.

Finding things and understanding the little details that are unique to every home should not be a chore. That is one reason why I take the time to tour the home with every arriving guest. We believe that getting settled in and relaxed is key to starting a great vacation. Thanks again Kent.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Perfect! for our family Carla

    Rating:

There were 6 of us. We had plenty of room to spread out. The home was so comfortable. We just wished we could have stayed a day or two longer just to enjoy what this house had to offer. We could have had a competition going with the pool table, and also play more games. After our hikes, we enjoyed sitting outside on the huge deck watching a beautiful sunset every night. We saw a huge coyote strolling down the path and saw deer grazing close by. David was a wonderful owner and shared all his knowledge about Yosemite and offered more maps to us. He put together a great binder with everything we needed to know about the house and the area. We would definitely return to this lodge. Thanks David!

  • Beautiful snowy holiday in Ansel Adams country

    Rating:

Our family stayed at the Peregrine recently during the second week of April. David is a wonderfully responsive host! It is a most comfortable and well-equipped house with beautiful surroundings and located opposite Ansel Adams' original home, indeed the perfect retreat during a full day of snow when getting out and about was limited.

A wonderfully equipped kitchen was perfect for our self-catering needs. The lodge is well located to easily reach many wonderful attractions including Mariposa Grove and Glacier Point as well as Yosemite Valley.

Our kids, aged 10 and 7, enjoyed the lodge so much that it was hard to draw them away! Visit and enjoy both the lodge and this very beautiful national park!

    Hello Karen,

I love the title of your review! Indeed we are in Ansel Adams country. The lodge direcdtly across the street from us is the Ansel Adams lodge, still owned by his wonderful family.

    Rating:

Our family stayed at the Peregrine over the Thanksgiving Holiday. It was the perfect house for us. All 3 bedrooms have their own fireplace, TV and en suite.

The living room also has a big beautiful rock fireplace. The kitchen is very large with top of the line appliances and well stocked. We had fun shooting pool in the game room.

The location is perfect. It's a short 20 min drive to the valley. David and Vonnie were very nice. David met us upon our arrival and was very helpful getting us acquainted with the house and it's surroundings.

We are looking forward to our return!

  • AMAZING!

    Rating:

We had a great time at the Yosemite Peregrine. David was very responsive with our queries, both in emails and phone calls. He gave clear instructions on how to get to the house, which was very important since we were arriving at the park after dark. We arrived past 9pm, but David patiently waited for us and gave us a tour of the house.

The living area, kitchen, and bedrooms had adequate space to accommodate our family. The kitchen had complete amenities needed for a cookout! Also, David has graciously lent us an electric BBQ grill since we had some steaks we wanted to grill and they had already taken away the gas BBQ grill. It was very thoughtful of them to provide a considerable amount of snacks in the kitchen bar – from trail mixes, hot chocolate mixes, as well as some chips and candies! It almost rivaled the snacks we brought!! ;)

The bedrooms were big enough and nicely appointed. Having a bathroom in each bedroom was good especially in the mornings when everyone has to prepare. Nothing beats the location of the house (inside the park!) which saves you at least an hour of driving to all major sights within the park.

We had a wonderful time cooking, hanging out and visiting the sites, and we want to thank David and his wife for our awesome stay. We would love to stay here again! =)

We had a friends and family getaway for 4 days and had a wonderful time. After a strenuous hike the house was perfect retreat to enjoy home cooked meal. Close to all major attractions.

Coming from the East Coast, we spent 4 days at Peregrine Lodge with our 4 children in their 20's. Our youngest daughter had climbed Half Dome in June and was excited to have the rest of us experience Yosemite for the first time. Both Peregrine Lodge and the Park were fantastic as expected.

Peregrine's location is probably the best available to minimize driving time to the various sights and trails in the Valley and points south. My favorite trails were off Glacier Road, just across from Peregrine -- Taft Point and Sentinel Dome, with amazing views from 8,000 ft. of El Capitan, Half Dome, the Valley, and all the surrounding mountains.

At 6,000 ft., the home was nice and cool even when it was warm in the Valley. The home is well equipped for cooking large meals, but try to buy all your groceries before you get there.

We stopped at a Costco and Raley's in Merced, and picked up 2 styrofoam coolers to transport our cold stuff. Raley's even had dry ice for the trip.

The pool table is the icing on the cake, but don't forget to bring the Double Bananagrams if, like our family, you enjoy fast word games. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

My family of 5 (ages 15, 13 and 11) plus my brother stayed here for several days in August 2014. The house is large and accommodated separate beds for everyone. Great deck and nice views.

The kitchen is large and well-stocked with cooking supplies, plus a gas BBQ nearby on the deck. We prefer to cook for ourselves so the nicer kitchen was a real plus for us (gas stove, 2 dishwashers, large fridge, granite counter-tops). We loved the pool table. The only drawback is there is no main floor bathroom, but there are en-suite bathrooms with showers in each of the three bedrooms downstairs.

The house is conveniently located. It took us about 20 minutes to drive into the valley, and I'd strongly recommend going up to Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome, which are a short drive, for a spectacular view of the valley.

Lots of books in the house on Yosemite as well. Dave, the owner/manager, is friendly and helpful (but unobtrusive) and his office is in the corner of the house.

TIP: If you plan on grocery shopping, there is a 30 minute lot behind the store in the valley. You don't have to park in the tourist lots and walk.

  • Wonderful Lodge in Yosemite - Can't recommend highly enough!

We recently stayed at Peregrine Lodge for 3 nights as part of a big Family Reunion roadtrip and this was undoubtedly the best property we stayed in.

The kitchen was the best equipped I have ever seen and we enjoyed having barbecues and simple meals. The pool table was a great success and the opportunity to do some star gazing on the deck.

We also saw deer just in front of the deck in the evening. It was wonderful to use this as a home - so much easier for the family to relax and enjoy quality time.

Very comfortable and David does a good job of managing the property.

  • Dream Lodge at great location

My friend and I were looking for a restful, quiet retreat with easy access to the park and this spot delivered. The home is new, spacious and very comfortable. And most importantly only 15-20 minutes from Yosemite Valley. It was very well stocked with kitchen equipment and common items like sugar, spices, coffee, tea, tissue, soap, shampoo, etc. Furthermore, the owner had provided us with a lovely gift basket of snacks. If we ever go back to the area, this is where we'll stay. Thanks, David..

Our stay here was incredible. The kitchen is by far the best equipped of any of the dozen VRBO's we have stayed at. The location is perfect for enjoying Yosemite; close enough but away from the crazy crowds. The owner is wonderful. Would come back in a heartbeat.

  • Pristine home, terrific host, ideal location

This beautiful home was absolutely perfect for my family. I was with my husband, 3-year-old son, and parents, and we could not have been more comfortable!

David helped us plan our arrival (we were all first-time visitors to Yosemite) and made us feel welcome with a basket of snacks, tour of the home, and responses within 10 minutes to any question or request we had during our stay. The house itself is wonderfully outfitted, beautifully decorated, and comfortably stocked with bathroom and kitchen supplies--and the sunset view from the outdoor jacuzzi just put it over the top!

The location was also perfect, about halfway between the Valley and the Mariposa Grove, so we were able to plan our hiking excursions without having to factor in hours-long drives.

I can't recommend this property enough--I only hope we're lucky enough to be able to return soon!
